Car shipping, answered straight
The most common questions we get from customers — answered the same way we'd explain it to a friend over coffee.
How do I get a car shipping quote?
Enter pickup ZIP, delivery ZIP, vehicle, and earliest pickup date on our quote page. Our AI returns a real, bookable, all-in price in under a minute — no callbacks or sales calls.
How does the AI pricing actually work?
Our rate engine reads live carrier capacity on your specific lane, fuel prices, vehicle dimensions, seasonality, and recent dispatch acceptance rates. It returns the price a carrier will actually accept today, not a sales pitch.
How much does car shipping cost?
Most US shipments run $700–$1,600 on open transport and $1,200–$3,500 enclosed. The biggest drivers are distance, season, vehicle size, and trailer type. Coast-to-coast typically lands $1,100–$1,600 open.
How long does shipping take?
Dispatch is usually 1–5 business days. Transit is about 1 day per 400–500 miles. Coast-to-coast: 7–10 days door-to-door standard, 4–7 with expedited service.
Is my car insured during transport?
Yes. Every carrier in our network carries a minimum of $100,000 in cargo insurance, verified through Highway before they're matched to your shipment. Higher-value vehicles are routed to carriers with proportionally higher coverage.
What's the difference between open and enclosed transport?
Open transport carries 7–10 vehicles on an exposed trailer (how 95% of cars on US roads ship). Enclosed transport carries 2–6 vehicles in a fully enclosed trailer with weather protection and lift-gate loading — about 40–60% more expensive.
Do you ship inoperable vehicles?
Yes. We dispatch carriers with winches for non-running vehicles. Tell us the condition during the quote so the right carrier and equipment is matched — there's a small premium for inop loading.
Do I have to be there for pickup and delivery?
You or someone you designate. Both pickup and delivery require an in-person walk-around inspection and a signed Bill of Lading. We can coordinate with friends, family, or a dealer on your behalf.
Is door-to-door really door-to-door?
Pickup and delivery are at your address whenever the carrier can safely and legally reach it. Tight residential streets, gated communities, and downtown cores usually meet at a nearby parking lot — typically within 5–10 minutes of your address.
Can I put personal items in the car?
Carriers can legally allow up to 100 lbs of personal items in the trunk on open transport. Above that risks DOT fines and isn't covered by cargo insurance.
Can I cancel my order?
Yes. You can cancel anytime before a carrier is dispatched, free of charge. Once a carrier is assigned and en route to pickup, a small cancellation fee may apply to cover their time.
How do I track my shipment?
Live GPS tracking is included on every shipment. Our AI Track & Trace agent also texts you proactively whenever the carrier hits a checkpoint or the ETA shifts.
Do you ship to Alaska or Hawaii?
Yes — we coordinate land transport to the port of departure (Seattle for AK, Long Beach/Oakland for HI) and the Roll-on/Roll-off ferry leg as one bundled price.
Do you offer dealer or business accounts?
Yes. Dealer accounts get net-15 or net-30 billing, a real-time multi-VIN dashboard, AI dispatch tuned to your priority carriers, and bulk CSV quoting. Contact us for a dealer rate card.
What happens if there's damage?
Note any new damage on the Bill of Lading at delivery before signing — that triggers the claim. We coordinate documentation and file against the carrier's cargo insurance. We don't disappear after a claim is opened.
