August move-in season
Move-in week at major universities (mid-August through early September) is the year's biggest spike for college car shipping. Routes into university towns (Ann Arbor, Athens, Austin, College Station, Boulder, Madison, Tuscaloosa, Chapel Hill) see 2–3x normal demand for 10–14 days.
Book by late July to lock August pickup dates. Door-to-dorm delivery is straightforward at most universities — campus parking services typically allow car carriers to drop off at designated zones. We coordinate the delivery spot with your student before pickup.
May semester-end returns
Late April through mid-May is the return rush. Same booking advice: 3–4 weeks ahead for the best rates and pickup dates. We can quote a return trip when you book the August shipment for a coordinated package rate.
What students need to know
Pickup prep: quarter tank of fuel, no personal items in the car (carriers can technically carry up to ~100 lbs in the trunk, but it's not insured), spare key ready, registration accessible. If the vehicle is in your student's name, they can be the pickup contact; if it's in a parent's name, the parent can authorize a student to receive delivery in writing.
On-campus delivery: most carriers will drop at a campus surface lot or apartment complex. Tight on-campus driveways and parking garages with low clearance may need a meet-up at a nearby commercial lot. We confirm the exact spot 24 hours ahead.
