Heavy Equipment Shipping — Construction, Farm & Oversized Loads
Heavy equipment shipping moves excavators, tractors, forklifts, trailers, and other oversized loads on the right specialty equipment — flatbed, step-deck, or RGN. We handle the permits, route surveys, and pilot cars when oversize loads require them.
Heavy equipment shipping covers construction machinery (excavators, dozers, loaders), agricultural equipment (tractors, combines), industrial gear (forklifts, generators), and oversized vehicles that don't fit a standard auto hauler. ShipCargo AI matches the right trailer (flatbed, step-deck, or RGN) to your equipment's dimensions and weight, and handles oversize permits and routing when required.
What's included
- Flatbed trailers for standard heavy loads
- Step-deck trailers for taller equipment (up to ~10 ft)
- RGN (Removable Gooseneck) trailers for the largest loads (low deck, drive-on/drive-off)
- Oversize-load permits and pilot car coordination when required
- Route surveys for over-height or over-width loads
- Loading assistance with cranes or ramps as needed
How it works
- 1Step 1
Send equipment specs
Make, model, dimensions (L×W×H), weight, condition (operable / inoperable), and pickup/delivery ZIPs. Photos help.
- 2Step 2
Custom quote within hours
We size the trailer (flatbed / step-deck / RGN), price the permits if needed, and route around any height or weight restrictions.
- 3Step 3
Dispatch and pickup
Equipment is loaded by drive-on, crane, or ramps depending on configuration. The driver documents pre-trip condition and dispatches.
- 4Step 4
Permitted transit and delivery
Pilot cars and route compliance handled automatically when required. Equipment is offloaded at the destination and you sign the Bill of Lading.
Best for
Excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, skid steers, tractors, combines, hay balers, forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, generators, large trailers, RVs over standard auto-hauler dimensions, and any other equipment that exceeds 8'6" wide, 13'6" tall, or 80,000 lbs gross.
Pricing
Heavy equipment pricing is quoted per-job rather than off a standard rate sheet — too many variables (weight, dimensions, permits, route restrictions). Provide make, model, dimensions, and origin/destination ZIPs and we return a quote in 1–4 hours. Typical small loads run $1,500–$4,000; larger oversize loads $4,000–$12,000+.
Coverage area
Nationwide coverage across all 48 contiguous states, with frequent service to Alaska and Hawaii via port partners. High-volume lanes include California ↔ Texas, Florida ↔ New York, Texas ↔ Florida, and the entire I-10, I-95, and I-40 corridors. Quotes are live in every ZIP code — rural pickups simply route to the nearest reachable trailer.

Frequently asked questions
What equipment types can ShipCargo ship?
Excavators, dozers, loaders, tractors, combines, forklifts, lifts, generators, large trailers, RVs, and most other construction, agricultural, and industrial equipment. If it rolls or can be lifted onto a trailer, we can usually move it.
What's the difference between flatbed, step-deck, and RGN?
Flatbed: standard 48-53 ft deck, ~5 ft off the ground, for loads up to 8'6" tall. Step-deck: lower main deck for loads up to ~10 ft tall. RGN: removable gooseneck, the lowest deck and the choice for the heaviest, tallest loads — equipment can be driven directly on and off.
Do you handle oversize-load permits?
Yes. We coordinate state-by-state permits for over-width, over-height, and over-weight loads, and arrange pilot/escort cars when required by state law.
How long does heavy equipment shipping take?
Transit is similar to standard auto transport — 1 day per 400–500 miles. Permitted oversize loads can add 1–3 days for routing and pilot-car scheduling.
