Why backhoes are an easy ship
Most backhoe loaders fit on a standard step-deck or lowboy under the 8'6" width limit, which keeps them out of the oversize-permit pipeline. That cuts both cost and lead time compared to larger earthmoving equipment.
Front bucket and rear stabilizers ship with the machine. The boom folds and locks for transport.
Pickup and loading
Carrier arrives with a beavertail or ramped lowboy. The operator drives the backhoe up the ramp, lowers the bucket and stabilizers to the deck, engages the parking brake, and shuts down. Carrier secures with four corner chains and an additional chain across the bucket and boom.
What you'll pay, beyond per-mile
Standard quote includes pickup, transit, and delivery. Add $150–$300 for non-running units that need a winch. Auction-yard pickups (Ritchie Bros, IronPlanet) have no surcharge — we run those lanes weekly.

Permits, escorts, and rigging itemized — no surprises.
Backhoe shipping FAQs
Can you ship a backhoe purchased at auction?
Yes. We handle Ritchie Bros, IronPlanet, and Purple Wave pickups regularly. Provide the lot number and we coordinate yard release.
Should I drain the fuel?
No. Tank should be no more than three-quarters full; all caps tight.
Do I need to remove attachments?
Front bucket and rear hoe stay on; specialty attachments (breakers, augers) ship separately or on the same trailer if they fit.
